
The Australian Cricket Team is the joint oldest team in Test Cricket. Australia has first played Test cricket in 1877. It first played a One-day International match against England in the 1970-71 season and entered Twenty20 International cricket against New Zealand in 2004-05 season. The domestic cricket competitions are very popular in Australia – the Sheffield Shield, the Australian Domestic One-Day Series and the Big Bash League.
Australia has won the World Cup in 1987, 1999, 2003 and 2007. They won the Champions Trophy in 2006 and 2009.
Cricket Australia, also called CA, is the governing body of the sport of Cricket in Australia. It is formerly called Australian Cricket Board. It has its head office at Jolimont in Melbourne and the Centre of Excellence (COE) is located at Brisbane. Formed in 1905, Cricket Australia now has 150 employees.
