India defeats South Africa by 153 runs as Sachin scores a double century in an ODI

India beat South Africa by 153 runs in the second ODI at Captain Roop Singh Stadium in Gwalior. India won the toss and opted to bat first. Sachin Tendulkar scored the first double century 200*(147) in the history of One Day Internationals as India piled on a massive 401/3. Sachin also became the highest score in ODI's. The record for the highest individual score was earlier held jointly by Saeed Anwar and Charles Coventry who scored 194 runs. In reply, AB de Villiers's century went in vain as South Africa were all out for 248 runs in 42.5 overs.

India lost the first wicket of Virender Sehwag 9(11). Dinesh Karthik coming at No. 3 provided good support to Sachin at the other end. Karthik scored 79(85) and the pair added 194 runs to the second wicket. Yusuf Pathan came at No. 4 and scored a quick 36 from 23 balls. MS Dhoni later joined Tendulkar as the paired added 101 runs as India scored a massive 401/3 in their 50 overs.

Sachin Tendulkar whose previous best is 186* broke the record for the highest individual score in One Day Internationals. The record was earlier held by Saeed Anwar and Charles Coventry at 194 runs. Sachin Tendulkar also became the first player in the history to score a double century in One Day Internationals. Sachin also has broken another record, the maximum number of fours hit with 25 in an ODI innings.
