Delhi Daredevils beat Kings XI Punjab by 5 wickets

Delhi Daredevils beat Kings XI Punjab by 5 wickets with 1 ball to spare in a thrilling third match of the Indian Premier League 2010.

Batting first, Kings XI Punjab lost the wicket of Manvinder Bisla in the first over by some superb fielding from Mithun Manhas. Captain Kumar Sangakkara joined Ravi Bopara at the crease and the pair added 34 runs to the second wicket. Kings XI Punjab lost three quick wickets of Sangakarra, Yuvraj Singh and Mahela Jayawardene and they found themselves in a bit of trouble at 44/4 at 6.1 overs. Irfan Pathan joined Bopara at the crease and the pair started the repair work. Bopara and Pathan added 60 runs from 43 balls. Wickets fell quickly in the end and Kings XI Punjab managed to score a decent total of 142/9 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Delhi Daredevils started off well with Virender Sehwag hitting a couple of boundaries in the first over. However, Sreesanth who shared the new ball picked up the wickets of Virender Sehwag and Tillakaratne Dilshan in the second over. AB de Villiers joined Gautam Gambhir at crease and the pair started the repair work. Dinesh Karthik chipped in with 20(18) and Mithun Manhas scored an unbeaten 31*(24). Gautam Gambhir scored a superb 72(54) as Delhi Daredevils won the match by 5 wickets with a ball to spare.
