India beats Bangladesh in their opener at the Twenty20 World Cup

In a bid to defend their T20 World Cup title, Indian cricket team made a good start to the 2009 ICC Twenty20 World Cup. Winning the toss, Indian skipper MS Dhoni chose to bat first. Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir gave a good start to the Indian innings before Rohit Sharma departed for 36 runs. Yuvraj Singh played a quick cameo and scored 41 runs in just 18 balls to lift India to 180 runs. In response, Bangladesh started off well, but Pragyan Ojha who had a good series in the IPL 2009 took 4 wickets for 21 runs to win the match for India.

India: 180/5 (20.0 overs)

Bangladesh: 155/8 (20.0 overs)
