England beat Pakistan to stay alive in 2009 Twenty20 World Cup

England which suffered an embarassing defeat in the hands of Netherlands in the opening match, kept their ICC Twenty20 World Cup hopes alive by an impressive 48-run victory against Pakistan. Batting first, a quick cameo of 34 runs in 16 balls by Luke Wright and a responsible middle order knock by Kevin Pietersen saw England score 185 runs in their alloted 20 overs. In reply, Pakistan stumbled to 137 runs and handed a 48-run victory.
