Australia defeats New Zealand by 10 wickets in the first test

Australia won the first test against New Zealand by 10 wickets. Winning the toss and batting first, Australia scored 459 for the loss of five wickets in their first innings. Michael Clarke who rejoined the team after missing the last three matches of the ODI series scored 168(253). He along with Marcus North 112(208) added 253 runs for the fifth wicket. In reply, New Zealand were all out for 157 runs. Doug Bollinger is the pick of the bowlers picking up 5/28 and Australia opted to enforce the follow-on. New Zealand were much better in their second innings as Brendon McCullum helped the Black Caps to avoid an innings defeat. McCullum scored 104(187). Requiring 106 runs to win, Phillip Hughes scored an unbeaten 86*(91).
