Lasith Malinga is a pace bowler from Sri Lanka. On 8 March 2016, he stepped down as the captain of the Sri Lankan Twenty20 International team.


On 25 February 2016, Malinga played his first competitive match in more than three months. He picked up two wickets in the first over he bowled against United Arab Emirates in Sri Lanka's first match of the Asia Cup 2016. Malinga picked up four wickets in the match. Despite the brilliant performance, Malinga hinted that he might retire after the Twenty20 World Cup.

On 8 March 2016, Lasith Malinga stepped down as the captain of the Sri Lanka Twenty20 team.
