Australia Australia beat New Zealand New Zealand by 6 wickets in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2009. Australia started off well and got the wicket of captain Brendon McCullum for just 5 runs on the board. McCullum departed for a duck from 14 balls. Martin Guptill, the top scorer of New Zealand scored 40 runs from 64 deliveries. For Australia, Nathan Hauritz picked up 3 wickets for 37 runs. In reply, Australia lost their first two wickets quickly for just 6 runs on the board. Kyle Mills got the wicket of Ricky Ponting the man in form and Australia had to play cautiously from then on. Cameron White joined Shane Watson in the crease and they played very patiently. Shane Watson scored back-to-back centuries and won the match for Australia by 6 wickets. Watson finished off in style hitting consecutive sixes to reach his fourth ODI century.

Australia beat England by 9 wickets in the first semi final, while New Zealand beat Pakistan by 5 wickets in the second semifinal.
