With Cape Cobras defeating Victoria, Royal Challengers Bangalore are out of contest for a place in the semifinals. Bangalore won the toss and chose to field against Delhi Daredevils. Delhi got off to a very good start scoring 30 runs from the first three overs. Gambhir and Sehwag added 48 runs for the first wicket. Virender Sehwag scored an aggressive knock of 47 in 29 balls. Anil Kumble bowled brilliantly in the second half of the Delhi Daredevils innings and he picked 3 wickets for 20 overs in his four overs. Delhi Daredevils managed to score 138/6 in their 20 overs. In reply, Ross Taylor scored 65 from 38 deliveries and Royal Challengers Bangalore won by 8 wickets with 29 balls to spare. Delhi losing this match meant that there are no IPL teams in the semifinals of the Champions League Twenty20 2009.
