July 10, 2009 — Bangladesh played some poor cricket and West Indies made no mistake in taking advantage on day 2 at Kingstown. Starting at the day for 42/0, Bangladesh were all out for 238 runs. Struggling at 172/8 at one stage of the game, captain Mashrafe Mortaza and Shahadat Hossain helped Bangaldesh reach a modest 238 runs. Kemar Roach was impressive taking 3 wickets for 46 runs. In reply West Indies lost one wicket for 17 runs at stumps on day 2.
Bangladesh 42/0 (18.5 overs)
July 9, 2009 — Bangladesh made a solid 42 against a new-look West Indies side as most of the day was spoiled by rain. Winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bat first on a sluggish pitch. Persistent rain delayed the start of the first test. Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes remained unbeaten at stumps making a comfortable 42.
The home team sported a new-look as they are forced to go into the match with a below-strength side following the boycott by the senior West Indise players due to a contract dispute. Floyd Reifer was chosen the captain and Darren Sammy was made the vice-captain by the West Indies Cricket Board for the first test match against Bangladesh.
